Acceptable Use Policy
PermitsDone Effective Date: 2026-05-01 Last Updated: 2026-05-01
This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") governs your use of the PermitsDone platform and services ("Platform"). This AUP is incorporated by reference into the PermitsDone Terms of Service and, where applicable, the Master Services Agreement. Using the Platform means you agree to this AUP.
Questions? Contact hello@permitsdone.com.
1. Purpose
PermitsDone provides permit-filing services to licensed roofing and solar contractors in Texas. The Platform is designed to streamline the filing of legitimate building permits with the Authority Having Jurisdiction ("AHJ"), including Tarrant County. This AUP protects the integrity of that process, the property owners and government agencies who rely on it, and PermitsDone's ability to operate.
2. Prohibited Uses
You may not use the Platform for any of the following:
2.1 Fraudulent or Deceptive Activity
- Submitting a permit application containing false, misleading, or fabricated information, including false property addresses, false owner names, false scope of work descriptions, or fraudulent contractor license numbers.
- Uploading forged, altered, or counterfeit documents, including fake owner authorizations, insurance certificates, or inspection reports.
- Impersonating another contractor, property owner, or any government official.
- Creating multiple accounts to evade a suspension, restriction, or these Terms.
2.2 Unauthorized Permit Applications
- Filing a permit application for a property for which you do not hold a valid and current Owner Authorization.
- Filing a permit for work you are not licensed or qualified to perform in the applicable jurisdiction.
- Filing permits on behalf of an unlicensed contractor or acting as a pass-through to circumvent licensing requirements.
- Submitting permit applications for properties you do not have permission to access or perform work on.
2.3 Code, Regulatory, or Legal Violations
- Using the Platform to facilitate any work that you know to be in violation of applicable building codes, zoning ordinances, HOA rules, deed restrictions, or other applicable regulations.
- Using the Platform to file permits for work that has already been completed without a permit ("after-the-fact" permits) without disclosing this to PermitsDone and the AHJ.
- Using the Platform for any purpose that violates any federal, state, or local law.
2.4 Abuse of the Platform or Systems
- Accessing, or attempting to access, the Platform by automated means (bots, scrapers, crawlers) other than through PermitsDone's published API or integrations, without prior written authorization.
- Attempting to reverse engineer, decompile, or extract source code from the Platform.
- Attempting to circumvent, bypass, or disable any authentication, access control, or security feature.
- Submitting artificially high volumes of requests intended to overload or degrade the Platform's performance.
- Attempting to access data belonging to other Contractors or customers.
- Probing, scanning, or testing the vulnerability of the Platform or any related system without PermitsDone's written authorization.
2.5 Misuse of Third-Party Integrations
- Using PermitsDone's integrations with Tarrant County's Accela portal or other AHJ systems in any way that violates the AHJ's own terms of use, user agreements, or policies.
- Submitting information to PermitsDone that, when passed to a third-party engineering partner (PTOEDGE) or other service provider, would expose that partner to fraud, liability, or regulatory risk.
2.6 Harmful Content
- Uploading or transmitting any content that contains malware, ransomware, viruses, or other harmful code.
- Using the Platform to harass, threaten, or harm any person, including PermitsDone employees, AHJ staff, or property owners.
3. Responsible Use Expectations
In addition to avoiding prohibited uses, you are expected to:
- Keep your account credentials secure and not share them with unauthorized individuals.
- Notify PermitsDone promptly at hello@permitsdone.com if you suspect unauthorized use of your account or a security vulnerability in the Platform.
- Cooperate with PermitsDone's reasonable requests to verify information related to a submitted permit application.
- Maintain accurate and current account information, including your contractor license number.
4. Consequences of Violations
Violations of this AUP may result in, at PermitsDone's sole discretion:
- Immediate suspension or termination of your account.
- Rejection or withdrawal of pending permit applications.
- Referral to law enforcement or regulatory agencies.
- Legal action to recover damages caused by your violation.
- Reporting to the applicable licensing board.
We reserve the right to investigate suspected violations of this AUP. You agree to cooperate with any such investigation.
5. Reporting Violations
If you become aware of a violation of this AUP by another user or any suspicious activity on the Platform, please report it to hello@permitsdone.com.
6. Updates to This Policy
We may update this AUP from time to time. Changes will be posted to permitsdone.com/legal/acceptable-use and, for material changes, communicated to active users by email. Your continued use of the Platform after the effective date of any update constitutes acceptance of the revised AUP.
